[The bibliophiles who frequent the library nearly 24/7 may notice an unusual addition to their numbers. Especially since despite being in a library surrounded by books that could go up in flames rather easily, he doesn't stop smoking. Ever. Not even the two cigars at once. And any protests about this will generally be met with a steely glare and impervious silence. For a while he was trying to get info on magic, but since these books tend to be more highly sought after and Smoker wasn't having much luck with it, he's currently hoarding a small stockpile of books on politics, military tactics, history, and apparently crime novels -- about which he has a grip to ask (quietly) out loud into the journal.]
Is it possible to have gone through all the mystery novels in this place?
And does anyone have something with more actual mystery to it? These are pretty weak. Damn what I wouldn't give for a daily newspaper.

[Action]
[No, he doesn't.]
[Action]
Which answers my next question. Hn. I'm Smoker. [Offers a hand to shake.] You hungry kiddo?
[Action]
I'm Ikki.
[Blue haired with a haircut that really hasn't changed in years, named Ikki, ring any bells? He muses his answer, still wary, but he is hungry and actually a bit cold, though not that much now that he's in the library... He supposes he can always run away if this turns to be a trap.]
I'm a bit hungry... And cold.
[Action]
[Pinches a bridge between his eyebrows.] Well Ikki, I'm pretty sure you've got a place here, but I've got no clue where. So for now... [Hands over his jacket, big as it, it's not like cold bothers Smoker that much.] Take care of this, it's important. And temporary until we get you another one.
What's your favorite food Ikki?
[Action]
But I can't find my brother. Why do I have a place here?
[Ikki eyes the jacket and puts it on... More or less. It's really big for him so it's almost like a blanket. But it's warm and it gives warmth so it's comfortable, even if it smells like cigars.]
I won't let it get dirt.
[Ikki is a responsible child, if he's told to take care of it he will. Maybe this adult isn't bad like the others.
Still, he gets a blank stare about the favorite food. Ikki's first impulse is to answer that his mama's food is his favorite but... No mama anymore so it's moot point.]
Warm food. I haven't eaten warm food since mama died.
[He clearly still doesn't understand well what "mama died" means. He just knows that it happened.]
[Action]
[Action]
I can walk barefoot. It's okay.
[He's got a warm jacket to help with the cold for now and is getting food. He won't ask for more.]
[Action]
[Action] 1/2
[Action]
W-Well, if it's important that people get to see your jacket... I suppose I could do it. They wouldn't see it on me if I walked after all.
[But only because it's important that the jacket is seem, apparently.]
[Action]
So where were you before showing up in the library?
[Action]
[There are different justices apparently.
Mental reaction to being put up on the shoulders: Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh, it's so high! This is awesome!
Physical reaction, a small smile tugging on his lips that he tries to suppress and sit veeery still so he doesn't fall. Also, looking around, the village looks different from this height.]
I was on the street. I was trying to find the witch who took away my brother after she made me sleep... But I was in Japan when that happened. How did I got to this city?
[Action]
The kind most adults talk about -- absolute justice you mean?
[Action]
[And a experiment? He kind of understands the last part, even if it makes no sense.]
What will happen to my brother?
[Absolute justice, what's that man?]
The justice that says that it's okay to take away my little brother and give him to a family that won't let me see him ever. The justice that says they can do all they want just because they are adults.
[Action]
And... I'm not sure about your brother. [Hesitates because he's not about to lie to the kid.] What's his name?
[Action]
Shun... He's still a baby, mama died to bring him with me, he's my res-respon-responsibibibli-... I have to take care of him. He's my little brother. I'm an older brother now.
[Isn't it awesome when kids can't really say a word that they find difficult and end making it even more difficult?]
[Action]
Hn. I don't think he's here, but that means wherever he is, he's probably safer. [Walking through the snow now.]
[Action]
[Not that it seems to matter but... Just in case.]
But... There was a girl trying to steal him from me. If I'm not with him she will take him! She was crazy, he can't be safer there.
[Action]
I see. I can't say for sure, but I don't think he's with her either. So your justice is protecting your brother?
[Action]
[He didn't have many, but his mother would often try to get at least one for him every week. And when she announced he would get a little brother, he even began to store his candy, so when his brother came he could give him candy everyday. It didn't matter if he himself couldn't get it, he was the older brother, he had to sacrifice himself for his little brother.]
My justice... My justice is one that won't separate brothers or let mamas die in an old house without help. I'll protect those too, anyone who needs it. I'll become strong, stronger than adults so they can't do what they want with their justice and make people unhappy!
[He shows a very passionate attitude regarding that but after a small pause he seems to calm down.]
I'm still not very strong, so for now I will start with protecting my brother and make him happy.
[One step at a time.]
[Action]
Sounds like a good justice to me. I'm sure you'll get strong enough for that before you know it.
[Action]
[He will have to find a way to save money to get some ice cream when summer comes, for him and his brother if they get back together... Wait.]
Can babies eat ice cream?
[He knows they can't eat candy, too little for it. It's quite clear what his idea is, give ice cream to his brother. Protective older brother he is.
He snorts at the next comment though, embarrassed by it and thus hiding it behind a tsun facade.]
Of course I'll be strong! I'll be very strong, I won't stop until I'm the strongest- No, not the strongest, but capable of beat those who are. If I'm strong enough for that I can protect people and if I'm not too strong I won't become like those adults!
And I don't care if it's a good justice or not. It's mine, it's what I want to do and what I will do. Even if no one else thinks like me.
[Though it feels nice to hear people say that it sounds like a good justice, hee hee.]
What's your justice?
[Action]
My justice is protecting little kids who can't protect themselves yet and stopping pirates who want to hurt people.
[Action]
[And if it's not too expensive then there won't be much problem with having to choose or something.
Ikki nods sagely as he hears what Smoker's justice is. He isn't in need of protection, he's strong, but he finds it nice that there's an adult who will protect other children who can't protect themselves. The pirate part sounds exciting though.]
Pirates? Are there pirates here too?
[Action]
Yeah, there's a few, unfortunately. Most of them know enough to try to avoid that jacket you're wearing.
