[Face palms.] I already told her I'd keep her place at the forge until she's back on her feet, but she has plans, and she doesn't know how long it will take.

I'll see what I can do about getting extra rooms around the garage and whether they can be converted, but I have yet to hear her declarations of what she wants to do. Don't accidentally be just like the other boy in your desire to protect her. For all you know, that's exactly how sees it.

[Ace blinked in surprise then puffed his cheeks out, stealing Smoker's ramen bowl as soon as it landed. That had been a good exit line! You couldn't just sully a man's good exit line! Especially when he was pulling ahead and you knew it.

Now Ace's only options were to sit here and wait for a better exit line; hoping Smoker didn't beat him to the punch-- or get up and leave pretending he'd never heard him.

But the latter wasn't Ace's style.

And even if he was, leaving when Smoker was in concerned protector mode would only be a disservice and make Ace look like a ninny.
