[Hello Luceti, is the nice little ice storm distracting you from post-Valentine's woes? Don't worry, here's a grumpy marine asking questions to painfully reminds you all.]

Seeing as we're all stuck inside -- [Once again, an usually feminine voice from Smoker's journal account.] -- I've got a question for everyone affected by the event.

Are there normally lines you won't cross in relationships that the Malnosso seem to cross for you? Or do they seem to take those into consideration instead? Since they seem to know us pretty well, it begs the question whether they're using our weaknesses, or if it's completely random.

And if anyone needs help out there in the storm, let me know. This weather is good practice.

[ooc: and feel free to threadjump like the dickens. It might be the only time Smoker keeps quieter than not, seeing as he's a girl now.]

I suppose once you are back to yourself it will become more clear? Or perhaps not.

It's not the girl thing. I feel clearer now that the Shift is over, but it could just be...

It's a lot of factors. Too many to process all at once. Maybe I should just ignore them.

[Except Smoker can't ignore anything.]

Clarity once the shift ends typically is a sign that you were, in fact, affected, just a bit. The question is if it was an inflation, subversion, inversion, or aversion to emotions you already had. These things seemed to work best on emotions that were already present.

Err... maybe all four.

Not that there was anything present except what... should already be there. Right.

I wish I could be more helpful but...I am one of the last people that can discuss these things with any kind of confidence, even with Ben's help in sorting out my own emotions. Should you have need of an ear, though. I am willing.

It's kind of... even more messed up. Because Shift or not, it doesn't change things in my case. It's where I go from here.

And I'm not sure where forward is. It's an unusual feeling for me.

When your footing is uncertain, you take your steps an inch at a time. In things such as this? A day at a time. Just...try not to make that how you spend the next decade of your life. It did not turn out so well for me. It is a temporary fix, yes?

I don't think there are too many points in my life where I wasn't trying to run ahead. Though, Luceti certainly makes that impossible.

Not entirely. You just...have to look at things a little sideways.

As of today? I am. And...it helps. Better than my previous point of view, at least.

It's sort of an eternal question, isn't it? Whether changing is giving in, or it's just adapting no matter what the cause.

We are only changed so long as we remain, yes? When we return home it as if we were never here. Adapting cannot hurt so long as you do not deviate from your true nature.

[Snorts.]

My true nature is to resist all attempts to change me. It drove my best friend Hina nuts.

Then do not change. You have managed well enough here without changing, yes? Some are better suited to adaptability than others. Some are better served by changing than remaining as they are. Some find peace in an opportunity to be different. Some, yes, but not all.

[Pauses and thinks that over as well. Sorry, Adele, he just has the need to defy everything... ever.

That said, however, it's not like he wants to stay completely stagnant, getting stronger is important and adaption is just a form of strength. And justice has to be adaptable in order take into account specific circumstances, so isn't that something he should keep up with here? He wasn't arresting the Straw Hat crew because their crimes and danger threat level were a world away and irrelevant here. Resolving things from his past... even if it couldn't be done and wouldn't matter so much in his world, it mattered in Luceti. If he did nothing with it, wouldn't he regret the wasted opportunity? Whatever the cause. Malnosso, lingering effects, or just something else entirely, he could either ignore it all together, or keep moving forward. And Smoker didn't intend to slow down for anything.]

I think I can handle it.

Of that, I have no doubt Captain.

[She smiles down at the journal before looking back over at the group, keeping an eye on Gambit, mostly. Things happen when he gets stir crazy.]
