Christmas Party on the Lady Justice

Smoker's marines "traditionally" have a Christmas party actual day/night of. Anyone on Lady Justice on Christmas Eve wakes up to it completely decorated in all things Christmasy, there's presents all over the place (gradually less as the day wears on) food, drinks, hot cocoa, all things festive. This year they're also throwing a surprise birthday party for Allen (blame Miranda) and between that, Smoker, Tashigi, and possibly other marines are going to be too busy to notice a couple of pirates running around (unless you poke them. Then all bets off.) SO FEEL FREE TO JOIN IN AND CRASH OR SHOW UP OR ANYTHING YOU WANT!!

They're stationed at Retwin Island to keep things peaceful during the tourist season and there's all kinds of super Christmasy/holiday things along the way. And some dreidels left over from Hanukkah in case anyone feels like playing. So eat, drink, be merry, get in trouble, go all out! Just have fun!

Allen just finishes, or polishes, off his last stick of Mitarashi Dango and breaks the stick into neat threes for fun before he hears the call.

Turning his head, his mouth curled into a friendly grin.
"Miranda!"

Miranda approches him, a bit more pep in her step than earlier, and holds out his gift, still wrapped of course, with a grin. "Happy Birthday! And Merry Christmas" (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/phoenixglory/AllensScarf.jpg) ()

Just the pendant, so she can wear it at the back of her neck. B)

Allen notes the sprightliness and his boyish grin turns into one with a more... Somehow, fatherly/brotherly look, pleased at her now-positive personality. Then his grin falls slightly as he sees her holding out the gift, a puzzled look crossing his face for a moment before-

"A-ahh! Thank you! Merry Christmas to you, too!" he replies quickly, smiling wider than ever. He is feeling like he isn't very good at picking gifts for people as he procures Miranda's - he carries around the smallish gifts and leaves the big ones under the trees - and hands it (http://pics.livejournal.com/shichiyo/pic/000082t2) to her.

She takes the small key in her hands, turning it over. Her dark eyes are slightly wide, blinking in confusion. It looked very similar to the winding key she had for her grandfather clock back home. The key is clutched protectively in her gloved hands, and dark eyes meet gray ones with a grin. "T-Thank you, Allen"

Allen did buy it for that reason. He smiled back at her.
"It's nothing... Though I hope you like it."

Holding the pendant protectiely in one hand, the other dips just below her dress collar, pulling out the long charm necklace Lavi had given her when Allen first arrived. She's careful not to drop the pendant as she undoes the knot of the chain, quickly but gingerly slipping the key onto it so it dangles with the good-luck charm at the end. The knot is tied together again, and the necklace slipped back into her dress.

"So" she beams up at the teen. "Enjoying yourself so far?"

Allen smiles as he watches her, truly happy that she likes it.

His face goes blank for a while at the sudden different question.
"A-ahh, yes. For some reason there're lots of Mitarashi Dangos..." and with that he turned a hungry look back in the direction of the tables.

"Someone knows they're your favorite obviously" she chides, a mischivious little smirk playing on her lips.

"... Only we Exorcists and Mr. Smoker, right?" Allen asked, looking nonplussed.

"...I think so. I've probably told..." her face drops a bit at the last half of the sentence, and a nervous set of eyes look away from the birthday-boy. "B-But surely! Just us"

"Miranda," Allen said patiently, "This is a Christmas party, not a birthday party."

...UH OH. Busted. She fidgets uncomfertably, looking again to the stairs. "S-Surprise!"

"Surprise what?"

".....nothing!" Smile Miranda. Allen's watching. Can't let him catch on to any of your secrets.

"Are you alright, Miranda?" Allen asked, looking concerned for the older lady.

((ooc: I wonder how there'll be a "Surprise Birthday Party" or something. :|))

"I'm fine!" she grins, trying very hard to cover up her mistake.

Allen's just worried for her, and wondered what to do.
"... Okay. Do you want to go in??" he asked.

"I-If you want to!" Miranda laughs nervously. She was sort of depressed and just wanted to go home, but she had promised she would come. And it was Allen's birthday. And she hadn't seen the people from the Lady Justice in a while... "Lead the way!"

"Of course. It's not so cold inside," Allen smiled and touched her arm gently. Then he turned and started walking, all the while making light conversation over his shoulder to Miranda.
