Smoker's return [Action / Video]

[The minute Smoker realizes he's back in Luceti, he gets his jitte. Like hell he's letting some pirate take it for a few months again. Then there's the basic things. A month's supply of cigars, and oh, isn't that nice of him, they even thought to get him a bunch of his own marine brand. They literally say marine on the little gold tabs, so surely no pirates would want to try them, right? Then it's off to get coffee, prowl around the general vicinity and head on home. As he's heading inside, the sheer amount of packages he's carrying jostles the journal open.]

Ikki, I have to thank you for the Cosmos-- Haki... [Annoyed growl. No Ikki. :| Figures. So he goes to open the journal for real and everyone can get a look at Smoker, two years later, no longer wearing his hair in ~~awesome~~ spikes, sunglasses, a giant scar, but still 100% Smoker.] Where the hell is Ikki? And how long have I been gone that he moved out? [He can tell Ikkk is still in Luceti, if not where, but what the hell man?] What's the date?

Right, to everyone else, I'm Vice Admiral Smoker. [Oh that's right, he uses his real title now. Watch out world.] As soon as I can, I'd like to get back into teaching jitte and kickboxing. Any old or new students, we'll meet at the barracks. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are open sessions, the other days can be scheduled for private hours or one on one sparring. If anyone spots a marine, let me know. Do not try to engage anyone from G5 in a regular conversation, they've earned their reputation as being pyromaniac psychos, just send them my way and I'll deal with them. [There is no affection to that. If anything "deal with them" sounds a little like "beat senseless and chain to a wall somewhere." Anyone want to laugh at him for his choice of command post?]

I assume we must be in a New Feather cycle, so welcome to Luceti. There are other people teaching forms of martial arts or filial magic, but unless the Drafts and missions have stopped -- which I doubt -- you'll want to take advantage of at least one form if you can.

[The first one to notice it was Hyoga, actually. A shift in the wind carrying a familiar scent of cigars, smoke and sweat, many have that kind of scent but it's the undertones of it that picked the animal's attention before he started running, following the scent and trying to track it down.

Ikki, noticed it after, but not long after. Even if his capacity is halved here, it's hard to not notice a strong Cosmos when it appears suddenly in the village. It only takes a bit con concentration to identify it... He's back and without seeing him, Ikki can already tell that Smoker has changed a lot, has become stronger and such a growth can't have happened in just two days or a week. Unlike Hyoga he doesn't run, in fact he hesitates completely. So what if he's back, that doesn't mean he will remember this place. Even if he has his memories, it probably has been a long time for him, one year? Two? Even just a month can change a person a lot, Ikki knows it.

But he can't let his pet go and bother the man just like that, so he goes after the animal. The only reason why he even reaches as far as to the door of the apartment is because he can sense the other man inside. Was it mere coincidence that he has claimed this apartment? But even then, it should be clear someone lived there or used to. Hyoga starts barking when he notices Ikki's not going to open the door himself.]

Hey Hyoga!

[Instantly pets the dog's head and hands him a ham bone he picked up in the village after digging through the grocery bags.]

[It's a while before he stands up but he gives Ikki an accusing stare.]

You left.

[So he remembers, definitively. And he has changed, yet he's easy to recognize... Apparently he's giving the sunglasses a try after all. When Smoker looks at him, Ikki tenses at the stare and looks away, almost like a kid who's being scolded and who doesn't accept he's wrong.]

I didn't, I'm still here. It was you who left!

I was sent home by the Malnosso, you gave up hope on me.

[Oh hello hypocritical Smoker. Like he wasn't ready to give up on Grell coming back, sure okay.]

This isn't our world! This isn't were we belong! I'm not going to be sad over someone leaving or expect them to return here as if this is where they should be. I didn't give up hope on you, I hoped that you would be free from this place to be able to do all you had to do at your world.

[Stubborn, in a childish manner, he only lacks kicking the ground once to be the perfect portray of a kid in an adult's body. He wasn't sad or hurt that Smoker left, he was happy for him, he was just angry because he was still there, not because he was "left behind", but because he was still stuck. That's all.]

I don't recall ever saying I wanted to go home Ikki. People ask all the time, and I always say I have no interest in it.

Tsk... It took them nearly two years to kidnap me, and nearly two more for them to send me back. Next time, give me one week before moving out.

[Chews on his cigars with a frown. That was way too selfish, Ikki had waited a month and a half for him after all... so he starts to blush VERY SLIGHTLY. No, he doesn't have that under control yet.]

[So have a super tsundere blushing Smoker, he's mellowed a little, and he has way more patience, but some things truly never change.]

I wanted to thank you. [A low grumbling growl and he looks away.] Your cosmos training helped. It is like haki. [Not that Smoker remembered Luceti back home, but still, it had the same feel of deja vu as when he first arrived after they'd sent him home briefly. The first time he couldn't remember at all, but he felt like he was supposed to be here.]

You're the one who is always talking about pirates and how they aim to ruin your world. How does that translate to "actually I don't want to go back"?

[Frowning. He waited when he was kidnapped for almost two months, but that was easy, his things were still around so he knew it was a matter of time he would return.]

Tch, it was nothing. But I doubt it helped you much anyway. You have gotten stronger.

Would you want to go back to where the world is ending? I know eventually I will, doesn't mean I'm in any hurry.

[Though in his case it's mostly because it's all he has after all. Without that, just what is he living for? Trapped here like a canary, growing older and older, older than those who died, older than his brother and the others who are still back at their world. The world ending would only make him want to go back even more because it's when he would be sure that he would have some use.

Ikki still frowns, still looks away, stubbornly. The mention of Akainu gains an expression of disdain and disgust, honestly, he doesn't know the man and he doesn't like him at all already.]

Why am I not surprised that he got the position after all.

[Is it too soon to consider that Smoker's world is doomed yet? And not because of the pirates he worries about so much.]

He fought with Aokiji over it. Literally fought... I had no idea it would come to that.

Aokiji lost though, or retired for whatever reason... Is he still in the Marines?

Logia battles are very dangerous. Between two of the world's best... [Shakes his head.] It changes the entire landscape.

Though it doesn't look like I'll know the full extent until I go back.
