Smoker's return [Action / Video]

[The minute Smoker realizes he's back in Luceti, he gets his jitte. Like hell he's letting some pirate take it for a few months again. Then there's the basic things. A month's supply of cigars, and oh, isn't that nice of him, they even thought to get him a bunch of his own marine brand. They literally say marine on the little gold tabs, so surely no pirates would want to try them, right? Then it's off to get coffee, prowl around the general vicinity and head on home. As he's heading inside, the sheer amount of packages he's carrying jostles the journal open.]

Ikki, I have to thank you for the Cosmos-- Haki... [Annoyed growl. No Ikki. :| Figures. So he goes to open the journal for real and everyone can get a look at Smoker, two years later, no longer wearing his hair in ~~awesome~~ spikes, sunglasses, a giant scar, but still 100% Smoker.] Where the hell is Ikki? And how long have I been gone that he moved out? [He can tell Ikkk is still in Luceti, if not where, but what the hell man?] What's the date?

Right, to everyone else, I'm Vice Admiral Smoker. [Oh that's right, he uses his real title now. Watch out world.] As soon as I can, I'd like to get back into teaching jitte and kickboxing. Any old or new students, we'll meet at the barracks. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are open sessions, the other days can be scheduled for private hours or one on one sparring. If anyone spots a marine, let me know. Do not try to engage anyone from G5 in a regular conversation, they've earned their reputation as being pyromaniac psychos, just send them my way and I'll deal with them. [There is no affection to that. If anything "deal with them" sounds a little like "beat senseless and chain to a wall somewhere." Anyone want to laugh at him for his choice of command post?]

I assume we must be in a New Feather cycle, so welcome to Luceti. There are other people teaching forms of martial arts or filial magic, but unless the Drafts and missions have stopped -- which I doubt -- you'll want to take advantage of at least one form if you can.

I take it that you've returned from some time in the future, then? Well. The future for me.

1524. Two years after Marineford, yes.

[She nods, thoughtfully. Just as she'd guessed. Vivi's beginning to wonder if there is some special significance to the fact that most of her nakama and now Smoker are from two years into her future.]

Tell me, Vice Admiral: is there any word of Alabasta? [Yes, she asks this of everyone, but she hopes Smoker will be more in the loop on that front than her crewmates had been ]

[Grunts.] So far as I can tell your Kingdom is almost completely repaired in another two years. The pirates get more aggressive -- but they're all aiming for the New World, that's why Fleet Admiral Sakazuki moved marine Headquarters. Whitebeard's death left a power vacuum so most pirates around Alabasta or Drum aren't going to be strong enough to put up a good fight.

Did you or your father decide to hire some of the rebels in order to keep pirates out?

In any case, whatever you've been doing seems to be working fine. Less incidents than even before Crocodile. And I think I heard something about Alabasta striving to become the bath-house capitol of the world, though that might be outdated or just rumors. Anything more personal [Meaning her father's health] wouldn't have reached me however.

Are you going to the Reverie soon?

[Vivi listens patiently as he speaks, nodding occasionally. He may not have a lot of specific details, but it's good to hear that Alabasta continues to recover and even thrive in the future.]

The Reverie? Ah, no, that's still a couple of years off in the time I come from.

It's good to hear Alabasta is doing well, though. Thank you.

Right. I'll ask later if you reach that point I suppose.

And how about yourself? I assume things must be going well if you've been promoted to Vice Admiral.

The New World affords a lot of opportunities, fortunately.

I imagine so. I've never been there myself, but I hear it makes the first half of the Grand Line seem like a paradise.

It does. The New World is truly insane.

I take it you've adapted well, though.

It's where I've wanted to be for a long time.

Yes, that makes sense. After all, that's where the Yonkou generally stay, isn't it?

Correct. And it's that much closer to One Piece.

[She nods absently. He's certainly welcome to arrest all the pirates he wants, as far as she's concerned--with the exception of one crew, of course. Though frankly, after seeing how far the others have come with their two years of training, she's not overly worried about her nakama and their ability to handle Smoker.]

And...have you run into the Strawhats over there yet? [None of her crew have mentioned that to her, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.]

No offense Princess, but given your relationship with the Straw Hat pirates, I'll keep that information to myself.

I understand. [Well, it was worth a shot.]

How has Luceti been? Any troublesome New Feathers?

[By this time, Vivi assumes, in Luceti at least, that Smoker and the Strawhats have come to a sort of tenuous truce. At least she's never seen them come to blows while she's been here.]

Ah, no; not to my knowledge, at least. [She's not sure if he was around for Valentine's Day, and she's not about to talk about the resulting embarrassment from that whole debacle with Smoker in the first place. Nor will she share with him the news of one of her crewmates returning home.]

[Hm. Small talk with Smoker is a special challenge, it seems.]

[Yes. Even if it's mostly Smoker's decision he never formally agreed with or anything. Good enough.]

[And yes. Smoker was around for Valentine's Day, though he was a girl, and he doesn't really care about what happened with the Straw Hats in it, though he heard Luffy got a new girlfriend. :| And double yes, small talk with Smoker is torture. They should just make the Impel Down prisoners go through that instead, it might just be worse.]

No one new wreaking havoc on the village?

Not as far as I know.

[Of course, that doesn't preclude sinisters of the sneakier type.]

How long were you away?

A month and a half when the Malnosso kidnapped me, then I was back for two weeks and gone for another week.

[Vivi nods slowly, still a little on awe of how one could be gone just a week from Luceti, and spend two years back home before they returned.]

Settling back in all right, I hope.

Surprisingly, yes. Though apparently my roommate decided to go live in the wild for a week.

[Though he can't be that mad at him, seeing as Ikki waited faithfully the whole month and a half for him. But still...]
