Rock Stacking at the River / Action & Picture

[Smoker might have gone a bit on a bender. One of those "everything is wrong, let's just drink into oblivion" kinds. Justice isn't what it ought to be, pirates are turning into heroes and even Smoker isn't as good at hunting through people's hearts as he thought. Vergo was adjusting his newspapers and Smoker didn't even catch on. That was why he needed Tashigi, and she wasn't here. So here in Luceti, Smoker couldn't tell enemy from from friend anymore. At least not on a grand scale. Malnosso? Third Party? Too many factions, too many wildcards. He thought he could just ignore those factions and focus on what was directly at hand, but that's becoming less and less of an option. Option? What options?]

[So he's drinking.]

[And you know what Smoker does when he drinks? He stacks rocks.]

[Sure, that sounds benign enough, but that would be a serious underestimation of Smoker's love for going overboard.]

Now this is what you can do with non-defective rocks! [He is just so proud.]

[Just from the picture alone, she can get an idea of where Smoker is. She'd leave it alone, but something compels her--the visages of old memories perhaps. A time, not exactly honest, but had happened nontheless. He seems troubled and she can't just let it go.

So she goes and finds him and finds him she does, though sitting at a faint distance, since who can say how his memory of a memory will play out?]

[A slight flush. How is he supposed to take that? Nico Robin. Saved by his mentor, his best friend, just like Smoker himself was, and with as much aggravation for Kuzan and Akainu in return.]

[She wasn't his little sister, but in another time and place, if things had been even a hair different, she would have been. He would have protected her from anything and they'd have been closer than he was to Hina. God, whatever happened to Zompano wasn't enough.]

Maybe. [A slight puff on the cigars.] Planning to show me up? [Truth told her sense of balance is probably better than his own.

[Ikki hadn't meant to check the journals, it was an automatic move, grab the book and open it to call... Someone who isn't there anymore. It annoys him, how he still falls into that habit, an habit that should die and rot already. But it keeps coming up when he's not paying attention. He ends passing the pages, checking the messages just in an attempt to fool himself, no, he wasn't going to call her, he was just curious about the village in general.

As if.

That's probably why when he sees Smoker's message and work... He flies where his friend is, he lands with a Cosmo explosion that knocks down some of the pillars Smoker had worked on. And then... Ikki just starts kicking down the others. It's better than both of them killing their livers, probably.]

Do you really have nothing better to do than this while drunk?

[Smoker just sits crosslegged in an area he hasn't piled up yet and starts on a new set. A better set! Because screw you.]

Better than reading or trying to steal a pirate's ship.

Why don't you go build your own ship if you want one?

[He knows Smoker doesn't want it because of that, but he said that stacking rocks was better than reading. That's not something he wants to think about right now. He lets Smoker pile up new stacks, he stays having "fun" kicking the ones he already finished.]

[OI. THAT WAS HIS BEST STACK! Smoker quickly sends out a snake-like whip of white smoke to grab Ikki's ankle and tug him in retaliation. Of course, Smoker's a little drunk, so his vision's probably shit. Oops.]

Right now you look like a drunk sailor no one in their right mind would let on a ship. Let alone be in charge of a city's military.

[Ikki snarls at the smoke on his ankle and burns his Cosmo to try to shake it off -and bring down another stack with it-, glad that it is so similar to "haki". It's always a relief to know that you can punch your friend in the face even if he's made of smoke.]

[Snorts.] Better than a cat with a burr in its fur.

[YEAH THAT'D BE YOU.]

[Have some more smoke tentacles to fend off!]

Not at all. [though she's not entirely sure how to take this. Could it be he doesn't remember as well as she does? The flush says otherwise. So perhaps it's a case of things returning to normal. Pity]

I came to keep you company. [she's not often so open in her intention and she wonders if he realizes this]

[Have more Cosmo flames, not that the flames hurt Smoker but hell if the Cosmo shouldn't. Want to turn this into a fight? He's ok with it, though he only came to pick on the rocks.]

Actually you look like that too, except that you have it up your ass rather than on your fur.

[He gives a gesture to an open spot and hands her a bottle of rum to join him in drinking should she choose.]

[He should probably say something. Something that isn't dumb as fuck.]

[Yeah he's got nothing.] Read any good books lately? [He doesn't want to be friends. He doesn't want to be allies. But they already are, aren't they? And god knows he's specifically wanted someone smart enough to help him see some of the things that he can't see for himself lately. It doesn't change the past, all of it, good and bad, and confusing as it is. But he doesn't always have to be an asshole. And truth told, he doesn't really want to be yet.]

[Smoker is about to receive the following, extremely annoyed message from his not!daughter.]

You have one hour to get your butt back into this apartment before all the rum in the apartment is going down the drain or off to Good Spirits.

And no more drinking or I'm never letting you play with Hyoga ever again.

[Dance Ikki dance! Smoker weaves the smoke tentacles around the rocks and over them to try to jab Ikki without him being able to determine where Smoker's coming from.]

I know, right? [HE IS SO DAMN PROUD. Finally! Someone appreciates his hard and awesome work, okay okay.]

You should see what I can do with even more rocks.

[Wooooooow. That's terrible. That's even worse than Ikki playing Godzilla the stack ruiner.]

[You are both terrible not!children.]

O-Oi. Not the rum... if you take it to Good Spirits all the pirates will drink it! [MEAN.]

I'd rather deal with a drunk Pirate than a drunk Marine.

So you have your options. One: Come home. Two: Rum goes buh-bye. Three: I come out there and there's going to be a whole world of trouble.

[Ikki doesn't dance, his Cosmo does though. If he can't know where Smoker will be coming from, which is harder than what one would expect when dealing with a drunk, he will just surround himself in Cosmos and burn it. Smoker would do well in remember their very first encounter and how huge Ikki's radius can get even inside the barrier.]

[she moves to the open spot, forming a seat out of hands and accepts the bottle but doesn't drink it right away, instead looking at him contemplatively for a moment before smiling]

You've very drunk, aren't you?

[HUFFS!]

[Huff huff. Smoke. Stack a rock idly.] I only had a few bottles. [Which means he lost count. HM.]

[Luckily it doesn't burn the trees or Smoker so Smoker just keeps it up, letting his smoke darts get more haphazard and ridiculous.]

Same thing, isn't it? Besides I don't need to see to do this. [AND SO HE CLOSES HIS EYES.]

[Um.]

[He might be knocking over a few of his own rocks now.] Huh. That wasn't your shin, right? [Because you know... shins are hard, but cracking shins would be bad.]

I don't know if that's a compliment or not.

[HUUUUUFFF.] You're not the boss of me. Don't tell me what to do. And I'm not drunk --

Oh. I should stack the bottles too.

[PAUSE.] Not that there are a lot of bottles. [TOTALLY. Ignore the dozens okay?]

Yeah, don't even think about it.

[SHE HEARD THAT HUFF.] I will so be the boss of you when you're acting like a five year old.

And if you're not drunk, why are you contemplating stacking bottles?

[She levels a deadpan expression at the camera.] Don't make me come out there.

Oh no? I think your stacks are looking a little tilted. [they're not, but she just wants to see what he does]

Because I've always wanted to stack bottles. [Why do you say that like it's not a normal thing, huh?]
