Smoker wearily climbed the stairs, on his way back to the hotel room. Chasing after Fiyero had taken longer than he'd hoped and he still had friends visiting to at least greet. Mostly he just wanted to crawl into bed with Karen and sleep for the next twenty-four hours. Still he took the time to look around at the city. It was a beautiful city really. The water was a bit much but it reflected nicely and red tile rooftops sparkled in the sunlight in stark contrast with the blue waters. Maybe if there was time he'd take Karen out jumping rooftops at night.

Lavi, who was preoccupied with looking out a window, turned around upon hearing the door open. He grins at Smoker and his guest while his arm raises to give a wave. "Nice to meetchya." He takes a few steps forward, hands resting against the back of his head. "So you're in the Marines now?"

As he was about to pull out a cigarette, Zenigata looked up. Lavi was much younger than he imagined, but he definitely had the red hair Smoker had mentioned. It jet out in several directions like red hot spikes, while his bangs hung to the side of his face, barely covering his remaining eye which was a striking green. While he seemed more relaxed than the Inspector anticipated, the captain mentioned he was a historian of sorts so it was possible that he was much more clever than he appeared. "A pleasure." He replied, stuffing his cigarettes back into his coat and giving him a salute. "I'll be joining your crew for the time of being, Lavi sir."

"You can drop the sir," he says, his grin falling to a smile. "Lavi is fine." The salute and the whole sir thing was enough to make the red head laugh. He was all too used to being laid back when it came to greeting people. Hopefully Smoker wouldn't force him to stand up straight and salute back. "I'm warning you that the food in the kitchen isn't that great," he says partly to take a jab at Smoker and partly to find out what kind of person Zenigata is.

"As long as we have enough of it, I have no complaints." Zenigata said. "I'm not a picky eater." As he reached inside his coat for his cigarettes again, he continued the conversation. "Smoker told me you were some kind of historian, correct?"

"Almost like Allen," Lavi comments, not bothering to go on with mentioning who Allen is at the moment. "You could say that. The real term for it is Bookman though. Historians are pretty boring in comparison to what I have to do, " he begins to explain, not caring that he wasn't exactly allowed to share what a Bookman does.

The Inspector looked at him. "A 'bookman'? There is a term similar to that where I'm from but I'm afraid the occupation attached to it has nothing to do with history." He said, recalling when he had to arrest a 'bookie' during his early years on the Tokyo police force. He bit down on a Shinsei, drawing it from the pack with his teeth as he returned the cigarettes to his coat and began to pat himself for his lighter. "I'm guessing Allen is another member of the Lady Justice's crew as well?" He asked, finally uncovering the lighter from his back pocket.

Lavi tilts his head in the slightest as an act of curiosity. Perhaps he'll ask about it some other time. "Right, we're also from the same world," he responds, adding a nod.

After several clicks, Zenigata frowned. His lighter was out of lighting fluid. Slightly irritated, he pocketed it as his unlit cigarette remained between his teeth. "Interesting," He replied, reminding himself mentally to look to see if they had lighter fluid at the shops here. "Are all the members here on the Lady Justice from different worlds?"

OOC: Gotcha, and wb Smoker! =D

[identity profile] zenigata-icpo.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
A click interrupted them, as Smoker held out his own lighter to the Inspector. Smoke unfurled from his bottom lip as Zenigata looked to the captain. "Thanks. I'll have to get another one in town."

After a long drag, He looked up at Smoker again. "How many of use make up the Lady Justice now?" He asked, wondering how many questions he had raised since he had arrived. He hoped he didn't come off sounding like a curious kid, bugging an adult about why the sky was blue and if ants had ears or something.

Re: ooc: he's just been watching and keeping an eye on things, biding his time <3

'Over 200? Damn, that's a lot of people.' Then, Zenigata reminded himself that he was in the marines now. Hell, that might even be chump change compared to other fleets that could be out there in the Grand Line. While he still felt like a cop, the Inspector had to convince himself that he was going to be a man of the sea soon and that he'll need to get used to life on the ocean; that is, until he could find Lupin and get back to Tokyo. Even if he was going to start raising sails and swabbing decks, he sure as hell wasn't going to give up on arresting that French prick.

"Well, I should be getting cleaned up then." He said, nodding to Lavi and then saluting to Smoker. "Thank you again, Smoker sir! If I may ask one last question, what hotel are we staying at?"

The inspector smiled back. "Mizu Mizu Canal, got it." With that, Zenigata saluted again and left, walking along the cobbled streets and breathing in the salty air from the bay with his hands stuffed into his pockets. Getting used to this might not be so difficult after all.
