ooc; open log because as I've said before the minute someone asks I go "SURE!"
Where: The train ride
Who: Smoker, Tashigi and ANYONE/EVERYONE (feel free to jump in the Tashigi/Smoker thread or make your own)
Why: I'm a sucker for logs and guuhhh cute stuff resolution
What: Taking the train from St. Poplar to Water 7, Smoker dealing with Tashigi's SECRET motion sickness
When: Thursday COMING BACK.
Rating: G for sweet and cute unless someone amps it <3
Smoker checked in on the separate bedroom car he'd gotten his Ensign. It figures. She would have motion sickness. Good thing he'd never dragged her along on his bike. And at the minimum she didn't get seasick because if there was marine in this world who would, just to frustrate him further, it would wind up being her. "Hey little lady," he joked knowing how much she hated being called that. "Have a drink." He didn't tell her what was in it. A combination of what Michiko had suggested.

He arched an eyebrow at the stolen book. "Karen didn't come," he let out a low growl. He still was going to need to check on Allen and Zenigata and the others but right now Tashigi came first. "I was planning to wait until you were asleep."

She paused and then sighed once more and shifted closer, frowning slightly. "Smoker-san, perhaps I am not the person you should be watching at this moment. Allen-san, Zenigata-san and everyone else would probably love to see you, I'm sure of it. I am ... not the person you should be looking after right now."

"And I don't know what's wrong with Karen. She told me she was coming on the train ride and then didn't." He was fuming a little. Definitely hurt by the red-head's sudden lack of presence. He'd planned several date things and he hated changing plans. Women were confusing no matter what Tashigi said to the contrary. Tashigi wasn't confusing but probably because he'd been training her for the last 4 years. He ran a hand through his hair. "She must be upset but then why not just tell me?" He kept his voice from showing too much emotion and glanced back at the Ensign. "I'm not leaving."

She nodded slightly and listened carefully about the who deal with Karen. She thought for a moment, and then smiled shaking her head. "Perhaps she doesn't want to bother you with it, Smoker-san."
Perhaps she was speaking more for herself, than Karen, but she was never quite sure why that little pool of unease rumbled through her chest whenever she was left behind when everyone else was able to go out and have fun. She closed her eyes and breathed in slowly, masking the look of discomfort (aimed at her own acknowledgment of jealousy for almost everyone else) for one of sickness as she thought out the words quickly.
"Perhaps she is just homesick?"
That one was definitely aimed for Karen, she noted. "Not every woman is going to simply tell you how she feels about certain things, sir. You may just have to let it go and allow them to be alone for a while until they get themselves in order..."
That she noted, may have been directed more at herself than Karen, but she hoped he wouldn't see through it.

It didn't make sense to him that Karen could be homesick since she had Nataku to keep her company now and in his mind the cure for homesickness was going out and having fun, just like he'd planned. Or spending time with someone who cares. But Tashigi was clearly upset beyond just the train ride. He handed her drink back to her. "Work?"

Unknowingly, that hand on her lap balled into the soft material of the blanket and her lip was bitten in a slightly nervous habit. "No sir, nothing wrong." She could tell even from the soft quality her voice came out, that Smoker wasn't going to buy it right away. "I'm sure I'm just a little worn out, sir. Everything combined must've just took everything I had energy wise."

"I'm sorry sir, this... this is something I'd prefer not to share..." She finally said, ignoring the dizziness or the lurch in her stomach that made her want to curl up into a ball and just cry over the fact that she wasn't strong enough to be above jealousy.

Returning the luckily uncut hand to her, Smoker ran a hand through his own hair. He felt liked he'd been ignoring her for a while, maybe he was overcompensating with the train ride but she had been the one to ask him to come with her on one of her days off. "Sorry you've been working so hard this month," he brushed a finger down her cheek. "Is 2 days really enough?" Maybe he'd been overworking her. This was where Tashigi really proved that she was a woman in being utterly confusing. "Although speaking for myself it was nice to have a mission with just the two of us again. Last one was almost in Loguetown wasn't it? All the way at the start of the Grand Line? Catching Mr. 11?"
