[ voice ] Confiscating Pirate Ships, hello new feathers, teaching self-defense
Hello new feathers and old.
First off, I'm Captain Smoker. [Those who know otherwise can point out that he's a commodore, and that it doesn't even matter in this place.] I teach kickboxing, basic self defense, and jitte for anyone who would need it. I can also help spar against swordsmen if they're looking to expand their skills. Every so often a draft goes out taking people at random; kids and civilians alike, so even a little bit of practice can help. There are other self defense classes being taught so I'm sure we could work something out between teachers and create a formal schedule if need be.
Secondly, there's a lot of discussion about putting together a more permanent form of police or watch group to deal as first responders to threats to the village. Since that doesn't seem like something that will get worked out too easily, I'd like to suggest making a safe haven of the barracks. Anyone who can't or doesn't want to fight could safely put there in emergencies and defenders could keep watch.
On a different note; Jack Sparrow I'm confiscating your ship. Your previous acts of piracy here in Luceti have shown you're not to be trusted with one. Now let that be a lesson to other would-be pirates here.

[Worried note.] Of course. Did you want to meet right now?

[It's true, though with how Lizzie is it's hard to tell, she always tries to be polite and the good lady, smiling all around. Smoker probably knows by now that she's not beyond forcing herself a bit.]

[Which he knows the way too because of Grell. And he'll just go over there now.]

Smoker will have to wait a bit but she will be meeting him after five minutes or so from his arrival.]

[Let's ignore the fact that there's technically forest all around the village.]

[Starts walking. Tsun tsun everywhere. Not her fault, just his standard mode. Also, she might want remind him that his strides are a bit long and too fast for a casual pace, unless she wants to jog to keep up.]

Mister Smoker, are you in a hurry? If it's so we can meet at another time, I really don't wish to cause you trouble of any type.
[Smile. Yes, that's a casual way to point out that he's walking too fast for her to be fine keeping up with him.]

[Slows down and tries to relax. Secretly this just makes him kind of slouchy and look even less relaxed. It does slow him down though, he has a tendency to walk too much ahead of his own marines too.] So you wanted to talk?
[This is grumpy marine code for preferring to listen.]

I'm really grateful to you for teaching me to use the jitte. You're a really awesome teacher, one of the bests I've known. I hope I've not been a troublesome student.
[Action]
You've never tripped once. And the best I've ever trained used to trip over everything. It's a relief. [Nod.]

I'm glad to know that, though I hope that them tripping over things wasn't too bad.
[They have ended in the forest now and Lizzie stops lightly.]
Mister Smoker... Would you spar with me?
[Action]
Of course. Was that all you wanted to ask? [Almost instantly falling into a defensive stance.]

Uhm, kind of.
[She steps in position as well, but it's not a jitte what comes from a hidden place under her dress. Instead of the jitte he has trained her to use, Lizzie holds two swords, one in each hand.]
But anything else can wait, if you please.
[Action]
[Gets more serious and falls into basic jitte steps she should recognize, but sets his jacket aside as well.] Ready when you are.
[Action]
By the time they are done, she's a bit breathless. It's not lack of shape this time, but she's noticing that the people in Luceti are indeed nothing like those in her world. The challenge is higher here, everyone is far better than the opponents she's used to. She's not a genius swordman here, she's just talented. It both hurts her pride and feeds her ambition, if she can seriously train with those people, she will become stronger and capable of protecting Ciel even if they are alone. She wouldn't have to say goodbye to him or have him leave without a word.
Of course she can't stop being cute, she doesn't want to be scary for Ciel but he's not there now, so she can follow her own vow to be a wife that can protect him.]
... Did you know I used swords?
[Action] Sorry this was so late. /BEHIND FOREVER
Hn... no. But most people around here who are willing to pick up the jitte or spar with me are good with swords. -- And in the academy I was often challenged to spars by swordsmen.
I'm more surprised you dual wield. That takes years. How long have you been studying this?
[Action]
I think that one could say that I started studying ever since I learned to walk... I don't really remember when or how it started, mother always insisted on it though.
[Even when Lizzie refused with all her might. But back then she was young, she was naive. She didn't understand well what her mother meant when she said that it was for both Ciel's and her own sake, or what being the Queen's Watchdog meant. Now she knows, she learned the hard way.]

Yes... I was feeling bad for not having told you before so I wanted to show you. It's not strange if I ask you to not talk much about this, right?
