Hello new feathers and old.

First off, I'm Captain Smoker. [Those who know otherwise can point out that he's a commodore, and that it doesn't even matter in this place.] I teach kickboxing, basic self defense, and jitte for anyone who would need it. I can also help spar against swordsmen if they're looking to expand their skills. Every so often a draft goes out taking people at random; kids and civilians alike, so even a little bit of practice can help. There are other self defense classes being taught so I'm sure we could work something out between teachers and create a formal schedule if need be.

Secondly, there's a lot of discussion about putting together a more permanent form of police or watch group to deal as first responders to threats to the village. Since that doesn't seem like something that will get worked out too easily, I'd like to suggest making a safe haven of the barracks. Anyone who can't or doesn't want to fight could safely put there in emergencies and defenders could keep watch.

On a different note; Jack Sparrow I'm confiscating your ship. Your previous acts of piracy here in Luceti have shown you're not to be trusted with one. Now let that be a lesson to other would-be pirates here.

Under what authority does he keep a bridge for the purpose of robbing people who don't know better? He's already shown once before exactly what he'll do with a ship when he and Marshall D. Teach decided to pillage Luceti. There isn't much here, but on the ocean such a thing is far more dangerous, and not in me to simply allow under the principle that he thinks they're "pranks."

He wants to go his own way, then I'll follow my own justice.

Pirates do what pirates do; piracy. And if the Straw-Hat Crew were actively pursuing their line of options about robbing people instead of fighting the Malnosso, I'd be more than happy to take action against them too.

How old I am has nothing to do with what I am. If you've been around here long enough, then you'll already know what I'm capable of.

Correct, it has nothing to do with age, nor fighting skill.

If you're experienced enough to make that offer, then you should already know better. And I cannot accept that. You can no sooner take responsibility for someone else's actions than expect him to stop being himself.

Do you really? Can you name all his crimes then?

How long have you even known him? He pillaged the city once already and claimed allegiance with a man more than willing to destroy everything, and if you think he won't do the like again, you don't know pirates.

I can't just name his crimes, I can tell you that I was the first person in Luceti to keep him locked up for the very worst of what he's done in this town.

Because I was there the day he came back from the dead after gambling his own life away to save a man. The same man I tossed him into lock-up for attacking, months and months before.

Maybe you can't see the change but I've watched him from the get-go.

You asked me why I believed he could redeem himself. The ship? She's another matter entirely. She's also half-named after my mother. So forgive me if I feel a little possessive and don't exactly take kindly to having a stranger get loud-mouthed about confiscation.

However, since you feel so strongly, I will refrain until I have proof that he's still actively committing acts of piracy. Will this suffice? [He meant to say it far less insultingly, since he actually is pretty impressed by her attempts, he's just... an insulting kind of jerk.]

[ and because this is jack they're talking about? ] If you do confiscate her? Hand the proverbial keys over to Admiral Norrington. He's a navy, anti-piracy kinda man. Uber-lawful. And he looked after the Joanna Joyce when Jack was sent home.

My biggest condition is that it can't be used for Blackbeard's gain.

I'm not convinced that Jack's as in cahoots with Blackbeard as he likes Blackbeard to think.

Neither do I, and that would be extremely foolish on Sparrow's part. Blackbeard is not a man to be taken lightly and he does the double-crossing, not the other way around. He killed the strongest man in our world, a man who would be more than capable of destroying this whole island if he were here. Taking Blackbeard for the buffoon he acts as is would be the same mistake thousands of others have made.

It still doesn't change the fact that the last time Jack was in possession of a ship he teamed up with Blackbeard to sail it on the lake and pillage Luceti.

And the ocean is quite a bit bigger and more hazardous, it hardly needs the added danger of pirates running amok.
