Hello new feathers and old.

First off, I'm Captain Smoker. [Those who know otherwise can point out that he's a commodore, and that it doesn't even matter in this place.] I teach kickboxing, basic self defense, and jitte for anyone who would need it. I can also help spar against swordsmen if they're looking to expand their skills. Every so often a draft goes out taking people at random; kids and civilians alike, so even a little bit of practice can help. There are other self defense classes being taught so I'm sure we could work something out between teachers and create a formal schedule if need be.

Secondly, there's a lot of discussion about putting together a more permanent form of police or watch group to deal as first responders to threats to the village. Since that doesn't seem like something that will get worked out too easily, I'd like to suggest making a safe haven of the barracks. Anyone who can't or doesn't want to fight could safely put there in emergencies and defenders could keep watch.

On a different note; Jack Sparrow I'm confiscating your ship. Your previous acts of piracy here in Luceti have shown you're not to be trusted with one. Now let that be a lesson to other would-be pirates here.

In order to protect the ocean which is dangerous enough already without a pirate trying to sink other ships.

With what guns?

If you think you only need guns to be a pirate, you don't know jack about ocean.

I know the ocean is days from here without using the transporter. I know Jack has no means to sink any boat. Besides, pirates don't try to sink other ships. They try to capture them, and no one takes him seriously enough to allow him to do that. If you don't know that, I'm afraid it's you who knows nothing about the ocean.

The fact that they don't take him seriously doesn't make him any less dangerous. Some would argue that makes him more dangerous, and given his previous or still standing alliance with Blackbeard, I would consider that to be very true.

Oh good Lord. Can't you hear me? He has no means to sink or capture so much as a bit of driftwood.

[Speaking kind of slowly now, as if talking to a moron.]

As a navy man, I have seen his boat. He has no means to capture a damned thing. No cannons, no weapons at all besides a pistol that only fires once and a sword he can't use unless he gets close enough to board, and even then, anyone on the other boat is quite capable of fending him off with magic, knowing who else has them. If Blackbeard is who you fear [and Archie hasn't heard of him being around, which, surely he would] then Blackbeard is who you should chase. Frankly, Jack Sparrow wouldn't harm so much as a barnacle for fear of Buffy Summers.

[Barking laugh.]

If you truly believe Miss Summers has such control over him, then you don't belong calling yourself a navy man. Once a pirate, always a pirate, and no amount of competent strength in someone else will change that. I've already agreed to wait until such a time as I can show her personally that he is not under her control, what makes you so personally invested in defending a pirate's good name?

That isn't any of your concern. I do worry for a man like you, up against these sorts from legends and tales. I was only fighting against pirates and privateers who were real as any other man. Do yours bleed?

Some of them. As for the rest, I have my own means. If I can't fight legends and fairy tales, how would I catch the next pirate King?
