[Voice] Jitte, Self-Defense, and Executions

Hello New Feathers and old, I'm Cap-- Err Smoker. [Wow Proof he has done this message way too many times, he momentarily forgot his own rank. Woops. Not that it even matters here.]

I teach jitte, kickboxing, and basic self-defense outside the barracks, and it's open to anyone, no matter how inexperienced. As you may have heard by now, every so often the Malnosso take people at random for drafts, and while non-combatants have other opportunities to help support, any self defense can help.

For others, I wanted to ask about other world's or country's history regarding executions. Are there any that changed the world, or have other people here seen them personally?

Of course. Why, we'll be occupying the minds of great detectives for centuries to come as they try to unravel the mystery we've left behind. Delicious, isn't it?

Is that justice?

[Aye, there's the rub. The whole question he has about executions and everything else. Is that justice? Whose definition of justice? If it's so ambiguous and so damn grey, how can it be true justice if each person's heart says something different? Or are they just rationalizations. But anyway, he's asking more correctly, if that's Grell's world's justice, her personal idea of justice, and whether such a thing even factored into her decisions about it.]

That would presume to put mortal judgement upon divine activities, dearest.

Is it right that some criminals simply vanish into the mist for us to take and the mortal system to lose? The criminal is still dead, vengeance is still served, even if the bereaved isn't aware of it.

Who knows? The executions I've seen, some are true and some are false. I've seen innocent men and women taken to the gallows for what they have not done, and I've seen guilty sinners ended by the axe. In the end, I think the only true Judge is the one who sits at the Trial of your Soul and either lifts you to Heaven or lets you slide to Hell.

I meant the mysteries, but fair enough.

Our country has a lovely little system of law and order that does not always deliver a perfect verdict.

So it's not just for pirates or obvious criminals.

For all crimes - petty or severe. From pickpocketing to murder, anyone caught is tried and not all criminals are caught. Our world is not so black and white as it seems others can be.

My world's not black and white either, but that hardly seems justified at all. Execution for pickpocketing?

Oh, Heavens no, not for pickpocketing. Mostly just for murder or terrible crimes against the people. Pickpockets get slaps on the wrist and a good long time in prison to think on their indiscretion.

Oh. [Relieved snort.] I was worried for a moment.

So just sometimes they don't catch the real murderer?

Unfortunately. But such is the fallible nature of human systems.

Don't worry, dearest. When their number comes, we take care of them - and there is no escaping divine punishment.

They receive their reward in Heaven.

Reward? I suppose that's what one gets for doing their best despite shitty circumstances then.

Their souls, we keep in the Library, and everything rounds out as it is meant to be.

Consciousness? No. Memories and their souls? Yes.
