ooc log because Shichi wanted it and I like logs

Who: Smoker, Allen and open to anyone interested in joining.
When: October 16th. Before or after the kickball so feel free to have to reactions/join in or whatever
What: Smoker and Allen drinking coffee, staring contest and then playing cards.
Why: Because Smoker hates General Cross and wants to prove he's not the same.
Where: Lady Justice's Deck. Docked at Shambun Island.

Smoker poured himself a cup of coffee and one for Allen. Tashigi was on rounds and he had the day free for exercises or whatever random thing he felt like. The town was mostly cleaned up from the month he'd been stationed there so it seemed pointless to wander around town looking for pirates. "Have a seat," Smoker gestured at one of the chairs set up on deck. "Coffee?" He was intending to confuse the recruit and throw him off balance. So far that seemed to be working.

Allen walked over, treading on the ground slowly, as if afraid any landmines might blow up from underneath. So maybe landmines might blow up from underneath. Allen nodded as Smoker spoke, and sat down on the chair, although very carefully. Yes, Smoker, Allen was sure as hell confused.
"Thank you," Allen said, in a neutral voice.

Allen sat rigidly, hands either on his lap or shifting to the frame of the chair, all the while a mere I'm Only Slightly Curious expression on his face. He wondered if Smoker had some bad news; perhaps a drowned crew member.
With a high patience rate Allen waited.
And waited.
And waited, all the while watching Smoker for any signs of him wanting to talk.

While walking up and looking around for this so called Timcampi, her only clue being the tiny hole in the doorway, Karen caught the two of them out of the corner of her eye. What the heck were they doing?

It was nice to see Smoker partake in his recruits daily lives but this seemed a little out of the ordinary...usually partaking included some kind of dialog...they two were just sitting there.

"Awfully quiet for a coffee-party, don't you think?" She asked but also to announce she was there.

Allen jumped just a little when he heard a voice. He didn't know this voice. Turning, again with that slow and careful fashion, Allen looked at Smoker, then at Karen, then at Smoker again. Allen immediately attempted to scrape his chair a few inches away from the couple.

"It's like a tea party...with Coffee." She smirked and walked over to the two, dropping a gentle kiss on the top of Smoker's head. He announced to someone he had a girlfriend...so, modesty be damned on the ship for the moment.

Karen's eyes glanced at the boy who scooted a few inches from them but she smiled gently. "You must be Allen. It's nice to meet you." She said. "Please don't let me interrupt your little...ah- " She wasn't sure what it was exactly, but she motioned back and forth between them with a finger.

Allen usually wouldn't have been so awkward when meeting someone new, but usually Smoker didn't call Allen out for a mere drink of coffee and a... Staring competition.
Still, being the polite boy that he was, he replied, "I't's nice to meet you too," but he dithered for a moment before greeting, "Karen." It felt awkward. Too awkward.

She smiled at Smoker's blush then looked back at Allen, giving him a nod. She was no stranger to that thick atmosphere of tension. Instead, she fumbled in her pockets and pulled out a small deck of cards, setting it on the tabletop for them both.

"You two look like you could use a bit of a distraction. Play poker or something." She teased and slide the deck to Allen. "See if you can beat Smoker at anything, you know he's competitive~"

Allen decided it was a little safer to let his guard down a bit, if the adults were going to be distracted by a game of cards. He leaned forward, a look of interest on his face now. As Smoker silently fumed, he picked up the card deck and explored its slightly different designs.

He hadn't played a card game in a long time, unless you counted in he-and-Gokudera's game. And that was hardly playing. Sighing in his head, Allen looked at the both of them.

"Mr Smoker and Karen should play," Allen said, carefully.
He was somehow worried that Smoker would be the first ever person to detect him cheating.

"You two should play. You look like you could both use some fun since you two seem a little down." She smiled at the both of them. "I can go bring you something to eat if you'd like." She offered to them both while she gently patted Smoker's shoulders before gently petting the back of his head.

"If you're hungry that is. There's always sweets, too."

Allen couldn't stop a grin appearing on his face for a small moment. He began shuffling the cards in his hands, all the time eyeing Smoker suspiciously. Something bad was going to happen, he was sure.

Allen flicked a glance at Karen. He was sure there wasn't any mitarashi dango in this place, so he let it pass. "Anything is fine," Allen said as he turned back his focus on shuffling.

[identity profile] fire-temptress.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll be sure to bring you both something then~" She smiled and dropped a gentle kiss to Smoker's forehead after she pushed some of that stubborn hair aside and offered a wave to the both of them.

"I look forward to seeing who wins when I come back." She mused happily and hopped off towards the kitchen.

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-10-22 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Allen was spending half of his attention on screaming (in his mind) at himself for not accepting food when the offer came his way, but he did feel a slight flush creeping up his cheeks when he saw the... Interactions in front of him.

Allen fully smiled, and very innocently at that, directing it at Smoker for the first time since they met there. "What do you want to play, sir?"

No, that was not an evil/reminiscent glint in Allen's eye.

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-10-22 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Allen's smile widened, just a little.
"Poker is fine with me," he mused, and to play things safe, he handed over the deck of cards to Smoker.
"The design is interesting," Allen said casually.

You'd better make a teeny timeskip or something D:

Allen left Smoker to reminiscent, taking the time to look at his features. Smoker had a gentle side, he knew, only he wasn't very good at expressing it, or just didn't want to express it.

Allen said "Three".

.... Same.

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Allen caught the coin deftly, pocketing it whilst grinning ruefully.

The process repeated again, but this time Allen raised his eyebrows at the cards he fanned out in his hand.

The cheating promptly ensued.

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Allen's face remained impassive and unreadable throughout the game as he felt his pocket grow heavier with each passing round. Admittedly, he had let Smoker win sometimes - but only so that the other Exorcists wouldn't find his dead body floating in the ocean.

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Allen paused in this latest round to look closely at Smoker's face. Again, the overly dramatic image of his own dead body floating in the waters flashed through his mind. He grinned, however, and asked half-seriously, "Sir, are you alright?"

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Allen laughed softly, and he could imagine what was going through Smoker's mind, minus the bit about Cross. Allen had no idea Cross had anything to do with this, even now. He began shuffling. Halfway through, he turned his gaze upon Smoker again and asked another question.
"When do you want to stop, sir?"

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Allen shook his head quickly. He was merely worried about Smoker's wallet.

[identity profile] stareye-allen.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Allen took the silence as Smoker wanting to continue playing, and so he did, relentlessly cheating the whole time.
He suspected Smoker knew, and half of why he was cheating was just to humour him.
