[Voice] Jitte, Self-Defense, and Executions

Hello New Feathers and old, I'm Cap-- Err Smoker. [Wow Proof he has done this message way too many times, he momentarily forgot his own rank. Woops. Not that it even matters here.]

I teach jitte, kickboxing, and basic self-defense outside the barracks, and it's open to anyone, no matter how inexperienced. As you may have heard by now, every so often the Malnosso take people at random for drafts, and while non-combatants have other opportunities to help support, any self defense can help.

For others, I wanted to ask about other world's or country's history regarding executions. Are there any that changed the world, or have other people here seen them personally?

Thanks.

Well, I'm employed by the Hokage or the leader of our village, but, they're generally known for their undying love for the village. Those selected to be successors are usually evaluated based on dedication, skill, and desire to love and protect the citizens of Konoha. It's the Hokage's duty to serve the village, just like how it's our duty to serve both. For example, Lady Tsunade, the current Hokage, gave all of her chakra to heal thousands of people during an invasion which caused her to fall into a comatose state. That courageous display of affection, love and the willingness to protect isn't special for the Hokage, it's an obligation, which is why very few have potential of becoming one.

It is! We've had five hokages so far, each of them are great, strong and infinitely talented. Well, actually, we had five and a half because one person was elected as Hokage as Tsunade-sama was in a coma, but his reign was never made official and Tsunade-sama woke up and reclaimed her position. It's a good thing she did too, because he personally wasn't a very benevolent man and was very power hungry. [ Which definitely is no bueno. ] Unfortunately, he had the connections to make it into office, however brief it was, and undid all of the hard work Tsunade-sama did. But, since she's back in action, things have been getting better.

Konoha is the strongest of the Great Five Villages, even if recent times have been rather rough. It's because of the Hokage's duty to the community that Konoha is so strong. It motivates everyone to pitch in and create a unified, strong, village! [ she's getting pretty impassioned about this topic. ]

He had deep ties with the committee that temporarily selected him. The committee also had issues with the previous kage. He did care for the village, but it's what he was willing to sacrifice to get there that made him different. In other words, he cared more for the prestige of the village than the heart of the village.

[ Her voice is tense. There's a layer of aggression and remorse over those times. Coming to the decision to kill your own former comrade right after your hero goes into a coma... ]

My world is pretty large, I guess? The villages range in terms of size, but they also occupy land that's outside the village, so, it's not just a village but it's also a country if that makes sense. The country usually has a different name, however. Konoha is in the Land of Fire. Kirigakure, or the Village of the Mist, is in the Land of Waves.

As for size, I think The Hidden Leaf Village is about Luceti two-hundredfold. [ That's a large village. ] It has about eighty thousand people, so it's quite large. Population wise, we're the largest of the great villages. The least populated one is around thirty thousand.

[ In case you're canon blind as to what symbol means what, this article should be of some use! Also, with the length and all that, don't feel pressured into writing a lot if you just aren't feeling it! It's totally okay, I understand this is a bit excessive. ]

That's just a shame! There's no greater duty towards a government than protecting its people. Violence is a tool, but only if it still keeps the goal of protecting the pedestrians in mind. [ SHAAAAME. ]

Sort of. I'll write some of the information out since the hidden village sometimes doesn't mesh well with the country. [ She turns on the feed to reveal a map. ]

First is the Land of Fire. It's Hidden Village is the Village Hidden in the Leaves. [ She points to the village, which has a leaf like symbol. ] It's overall the strongest of the five villages, with the most people, and a great economy. It's military and its leadership has been praised for being a winning force of most wars. But, with multiple invasions in the past couple of years, it's power has slightly dwindled. The Land of Fire is otherwise peaceful and is a host to large forests and bright and sunny weather. [ Biased as a wikipedia editor. ] Next is the Land of Water. [ She circles her fingers around the islands. ] It's mostly isolated from the rest of the great nations. Until recently, it was always plagued by civil warfare and corruption. It's villagers usually lived in poverty and skilled ninja frequently deserted the village and then went on crime sprees. It's prospects have improved recently since the Mizukage, or leader, restored order and has made the village more peaceful and stronger. It's the smallest of the great five nations.

After this is the Land of Earth. [ She moves her hand to trace the outline of the village. ] It has the Village Hidden in the Stones. It's headed by the Tsuchikage. It's rocky mountain borders means it doesn't communicate with the other villages often. It also means it's a natural stronghold defense. It's a very large territory and it has rocks blow themselves into other countries. They're known for their constant desire to fight. [ Tenten briefly chuckles. ]They've hired mercenaries to secretly attack other villages and have fought with borderlands many times in the past for their own conquests. Because of this, it has the greatest military strength, roughly equal with our next land, which is the Land of Lightning.

The Land of Lightning, [ She moves her hand to point at the peninsula on the right upper side of the map. ] is a nation of iconic beauty. It has vast mountain ranges in the center of the land that have year round thunderstorms. From these mountains, the rivers go to the sea which create beautiful cragged coastlines. It's village, Kumogakure, or the Village Hidden in the Clouds, which is found in high rock formation that has a cloud surround it because of the elevation. In the past, they've tried several times to attack our greatest ninja to gain our country secrets even in time of peace. [ Her voice somewhat sours. This has affected her personally because it affected one of her teammates. ] Their hostility and tactics single handedly motivated everyone to keep training ninjas, so I guess it's because of them I have a job. [ Nervous laughter goes here. ] It has the strongest economy too, because of high tourism. Its leader is called the Raikage.

Finally, we have the Land of Wind, and it's village, The Village Hidden in the Sand. [ She moves her hand to the opposite corner. ] It's mostly a desert despite its vast size. The people live in oases because of the unbearable dryness and sandstorms. They've fought with Konoha in almost every war to date, but, they're our close allies now thanks to the effort of the Hokage. It has the least people, one of the smallest militaries and economy. It keeps its standing in the great five nations usually through trade, cooperation and the fact that it's not considered a viable land to invade. [ Zing! ]

There's also the Land of Iron. [ She moves her hand towards the peninsula with the lack of symbol on it. ] It's an icy, snow covered country. It has a great military, headed by ninjas. It also has remained neutral in every conflict, due to a rule that no ninja nation can attempt to rule it or meddle with the land. It has no hidden village or ninjas. Attacking it usually means you're declared an international criminal.

There's minor countries and villages but they aren't hidden villages or large countries. [ She then realizes just how much she's been talking. ] And sorry about that! I just got carried away a bit, but I figured it'd be helpful to gain an understanding of other countries so you could speculate on how they handle execution. I know Kirigakure rarely punished criminals because of its awful state, but it punished ninja for failure - sometimes by executing them which would be either public or private and sudden which used to be employed by the old Mizukage or whoever he allowed to look after the land. Its graduation exam also consisted of having students kill each other to gain the rank of a ninja. [ There's a tone of pitiable sadness in her voice. That seems like an awful experience to put people through just to graduate and become a ninja. Death should never be at the hands of a comrade. ]

[ I love it for its map feature too, even if Kishimoto is inconsistent and doesn't remember where he places his own countries... fml. Making a map of the grand line sounds like Real True Tears: The Miniseries so I'm awfully sorry you had to go through that. It sounds just tedious and no worries! ;w; glad you like it! ]

A world government? We don't have one of those, it'd be weird if we did considering how much we fight. [ The irony is they're considering it. Tenten does notice the politeness and bows. ] You're welcome.

The Kages set and enforce policies and new rules. They have a counsel of advisors that can try to grasp and fight with them for power, but they also have the ability to ignore it anyways. This counsel usually appoints and recommends the next kage too, and after that, they have to garner the approval of Jonin by vote. They also have their own bosses, called Daimyo, that monitor the entire country. They're disconnected with the village, but they do check in on affairs, approve treaties and wars, and nominate kages. They aren't very powerful besides that, as most kages override them anyways and make decisions and just deal with them later.

And yeah. It's discontinued now but I guess it was some twisted survival of the fittest. [ Her voice sounds distant. ] It ended when a graduating class member got bored and massacred the entire class. The recent kage has modeled the graduation system on a series of exams based on knowledge, demonstration of skills, and overall attitude. It's a vast improvement for the country, which is really starting to clean up its act.

[ I love it when you don't have to put in crazy amounts of effort for IC reasons! I did that with Lust a couple of times when she described Amestris because she's in the process of destroying it |D

And those are easier to map! This one piece game I have (Grand Battle) has premade maps for those. I wish I knew you back then so I could find a way to scan them/get images or something. And isn't Sky Island like... far far away anyways? It'd be hard to depict something like, "FLOATING UP HERE IN THE CLOUDS" ]

That's it, when it comes to village affairs. Daimyo are usually decided by bloodline, but, sometimes other countries will select one to replace them after they die. It could range from anywhere from a kage to just a really peaceful and noble individual. Sometimes, people buy the title. [ It's complex. ] This inept system is usually why they're overridden so easily. That, and, they have no military.

So, in other words, the world government is more of a monitor and not an empire. It protects the places that lack protection and makes sure the world is in order so other countries can do whatever.

[ Yeah. I know that Skypiea is in the air. Hence my confusion at being able to map it. One Piece science could most likely be its own college course where everyone ends up failing tbh. ]

Yeah. The only time they get power is if a kage is incapacitated and, even then, the only action I ever heard them taking was waiting to nominate a new one.

Ah. So, allying with the world government isn't required? What happens then? Do you ignore them, or, do you just wander over and destroy them for insubordination? [ She's curious. The big brother factor is slightly interesting to her considering how any country could defect at any moment from a central, worldly government. He DID mention control, so what happens if they lose control? ]

[ Let's be real, the amount of people that would pass an introductory class to Grand Line Science would have to be absolute paragons of great study or intuition. But, yes, one of the things I love about one piece is that two ladies and a reindeer are smarter than the rest of the main cast. ]

Nope. They usually just travel the countryside in luxury. It's a pitifully nonexistent job.

Hm. So, in other words, you don't even need to destroy them with force or anything, you just wait out until they cave in and come crawling back for your assistance? That's clever. It creates a way where you guys can maintain control for the greater good without destroying those that you wish to protect. What's a Shichibukai? [ She knows the term means seven but...seven what?

They're rich and they travel the country at leisure. It's pretty boring but I guess someone would want the job.

I guess not collapse isn't the right word. Maybe in danger of collapsing? Or having no aid would be a better description. [ She's not sure. ]

Wow. So you guys employ pirates to fight pirates? [ ....That doesn't sound like a good idea. ] That kinda sounds like people paying for the Akatsuki to fight other countries. Who made that decision? It doesn't sound like a good one. Have they ever betrayed the marines or did something suspicious, like aid pirates?

[ ooc: AT LEAST I CAN BLAME MY SLOW TAGGING ON THE GIANTS WINNING THE WORLD SERIES #sfperks. And, I'm going to be waiting until this arc is over but IDK! She's kinda like Momo Hinamori (who I rp...) except you don't need to make her snap to receive her backbone. She's still a kind person. ]

Yeah, but, sometimes bad things have to happen so both sides can get an understanding. It's unfortunate that some things can't be resolved through negotiations but that's just how some people are.

[ OH YAY SOMETHING TO AGREE ABOUT.... ] So, in other words, most of the times they aren't even effective and just create more problems for you? [ Well, that's interesting. ] Sounds like they aren't even reliable people. Please, tell me all four of them had their bounties reinstated after this? [ ....She doesn't comment on the jitte, but it's nice to know that he uses a sword too.
