This is Smoker, I teach jitte, self-defense, and kickboxing over by the barracks. By now I'm sure most of you have heard about the drafts that happen here, and it never hurts to be as prepared as you can be. Chun-Li also teaches lessons, particularly for beginners, but she can do private lessons too. If you want, she's also wiling to teach proper firearm use. No experience required, but if you have experience, we can work with that too.

For more experienced fighters, I've got a question for you. Do you make your own attacks, and if so, do you name them? And how do you decide on the names or themes in that case?

[Smoker's actually out early on the Thursday of the 22nd, getting in a few extra hours of exercise alone in the cold before anyone shows up -- hypothetically. He brought out an entire pot of coffee and he's got an extra empty cup next to his own, more out of a habit he doesn't care to kick than anything else. It's a few hours and well into morning before he's kidnapped, leaving behind only the coffee, jitte, and sunglasses. Lupin will be finding both sunglasses and jitte and holding onto the sunglasses. However, anyone's welcome to come join Smoker for coffee or exercise. After that, he'll be kidnapped for awhile. Good thing he mentioned Chun-Li also teaches, huh?]

Funny. And here I thought you understood so much about marines' views on justice.

[Bitingly sarcastic of course.]

All I know is that if you uphold a government that enslaves the innocent and destroy those simply because they know the truth, that whatever sense of justice, if it exists, is too warped to be called anything but clinging to the last scrap of morality you have.

Enslaves? Whom does the government enslave?

And that's rich coming from a pirate. Or have you somehow failed to find that throughout all your history books and travels? Most kidnappings and slavery is done by pirates. You're a little quick to overlook what Crocodile tried to do to Alabasta, or what plenty of pirates do everywhere they go.

If you really don't know the answer to that then you're more ignorant than I believed.

What Crocodile did, yes, I remember.What other pirates do. But not pirates are subject to the will of their captains. A pirate can choose to do the right thing and follow his dream. A marine can only obey orders in the end and from a corrupt government he is nothing but a bully and a fool.

Don't tell me what I can and can't do.

I'll never go against my justice, no matter who orders it. Marines might be subject to upholding laws, but most laws are created gradually for the purpose of protecting people. They get abused by corrupt powers, but thinking you can change that externally isn't just naive, it's foolish.

I've disobeyed orders more times than you'll ever be aware Demon Woman, and at least I'm trying to keep people alive. Can you truly say the same outside of your exclusive little circle of "nakama?"

And if it was a choice between your career or your 'justice'?

[As for the rest of it, who could say if he was telling the truth or not? She knew the reputation of the White Hunter but the truth was often hidden or overlooked. And for herself, she didn't have to justify herself to him and she frankly refused to do so]

I choose justice.

I don't love justice because of my career. I tolerate my career because I love my justice. And I don't expect you to understand that.
