Hello to New Feathers, and old.

This is Smoker, I teach jitte, self-defense, and kickboxing over by the barracks. By now I'm sure most of you have heard about the drafts that happen here, and it never hurts to be as prepared as you can be. Chun-Li also teaches lessons, particularly for beginners, but she can do private lessons too. If you want, she's also wiling to teach proper firearm use. No experience required, but if you have experience, we can work with that too.

For more experienced fighters, I've got a question for you. Do you make your own attacks, and if so, do you name them? And how do you decide on the names or themes in that case?

[Smoker's actually out early on the Thursday of the 22nd, getting in a few extra hours of exercise alone in the cold before anyone shows up -- hypothetically. He brought out an entire pot of coffee and he's got an extra empty cup next to his own, more out of a habit he doesn't care to kick than anything else. It's a few hours and well into morning before he's kidnapped, leaving behind only the coffee, jitte, and sunglasses. Lupin will be finding both sunglasses and jitte and holding onto the sunglasses. However, anyone's welcome to come join Smoker for coffee or exercise. After that, he'll be kidnapped for awhile. Good thing he mentioned Chun-Li also teaches, huh?]

[Spock's eyes still evade Smokers..]

My home planet was demolished along with over 8 billion of its inhabitants. They are struggling to collect what is left of our culture.

I see...

The whole planet?

[He's just kind of shell-shocked.] How many of you survived? How...?

[spohkh]

[Spock's brown, expressive human eyes turn not so friendly as he levels a glare at the man on the screen.
His voice is hard edge, as though he is barely restraining himself...]

Due to an unfortunate turn of events, the planet was consumed by a substance that caused a black-hole.
And now here are approximately ten thousand Vulcan's left in my universe.

[Spock's voice almost almost sounds sarcastic...] Do you have any other questions? [Spock was mentally kicking himself... but perhaps it was better to get angry than show weakness and sadness in front of his teacher...]

[Small grunt.]

Sorry.

[Black hole huh... Ironically Blackbeard's devil fruit. It's just as well that he left then.]

[Smoker shakes his head.]

Err no. Although you seem to be continuing the tradition of learning about things still.

[spohkh]

[Spock backs up and closes his eyes for a moment... just to breath.

When he opens them he is calm once more.]

Apologies are unnecessary. I have not spoken of this out loud to anyone before.
As for me I am in a unique position. The paradox brought in an older version of myself who is now serving with the Vulcan survivors... I am literally in two places at once.

[He's just so bewildered, and intensely curious to boot.]

[Spock does give a small sigh...]

It is difficult to explain casually. However, if you are so inclined, I am amenable to meeting with you at a later date to properly explain.

[Nods his head.]

Sorry, but yeah, I'd appreciate that.

[He can't explain about his own government and some of the things they do, but he has an extreme need to know as much as he can about it.]

Very well... though I am curious as to your own curiosity...

Why do you want to know?

Can I tell you that in person?

[spohkh]

[Spock tilts his head...]

Of course. Do you want to meet at this present time or at a later date?

Now's fine if you've got the time.

I'm over by the barracks, but you can pick another place.

I am amenable to your suggestion. I will be there momentarily.

[The screen goes blank and Spock makes his way to the barracks....]


[Smoker does not have to wait long as Spock soon walks in the front door....]

[Smoker's taking a break between practicing for now and waves over to Spock and offers a cup of coffee. He keeps it pretty much on perma-brew, but it's pretty good for marine coffee.]

Right. So. The reason I want to know. [Clearly not a man to waste time with small talk.] Want a cup of coffee?

[spohkh]

Negative, caffeine does not have the same effect on Vulcans as it does for humans... and I have never consumed the substance.

[Spock has observed the curious 'addiction' that Starfleet students had for the liquid... and the most curious effects that it had on their systems. He would not condone the substance as 'safe'....]

Never?

Wait, what does caffeine do to a vulcan then?

[Smoker has a lot of questions. Almost always.]

[spohkh]

[Spock gives Smoker an amused glance... he can recognize this level of curiosity.]

Indeed... the effect would be minimal if not non existent. Vulcans do not imbibe in the substance mostly because the flavour is said to be disagreeable to our taste sense.

Though I still wonder why it is you desire to know about my theories pertaining to the temporal paradox....[Not that Spock was trying to get to the point or anything....]

Oh. [Yeah, it's cool, his curiosity is satisfied.]

It's not quite the... err... time-space paradox that worries me so much as the black hole. [Rubs the back of his neck.] Of course if the black hole is what caused the paradox, I guess that's reason for concern too... but that's what, not why. Right.

There's a man in my world who has a devil fruit capable of creating black holes. Or rather, he himself is a black hole in a way. Infinite gravity. Darkness. [Smoker switches a hand to smoke as if to try to explain.] Devil fruits are strange sometimes, logia even more so.

However, Blackbeard is universally disliked by everyone from my world here in Luceti, but he's caused quite a few of them a lot of personal pain so I'd rather avoid discussing him in the open. Besides, he was here for a little bit, and you never know when someone might come back.

[spohkh]

I see...


[Spock considers what was said for a moment... he has not heard of this 'devil fruit' before.. however, he can deduce its meaning from the context.

However...]

I understand your caution. Did he give any indication while he was here that he understood or resonated with a possible black hole?

[justicereigns]

[Rubs the back of his neck.] He is a black hole. A living breathing human that can take on the shape of a black hole as much as I can turn into smoke.

[spohkh]

[Spock tilts his head in confusion...

He was not aware that Smoker could do that.... nor did he believe it possible for a human being to turn into a black hole...]

Most... curious. That fact... opens up many other possibilities for our situation. [Spock's eyes drift for a moment, a thousand calculations running through his mind...

However, his curiosity gets the better of him...]

Would you be amenable to giving me a demonstration of your own ability?

[Switches an arm into smoke.]

I can change any part and then control how solid or not the aspects are. Wind's difficult to deal with though. And I try not to rely on it too often for obvious reasons.

[spohkh]

[Spock lifts a hand to experimentally run a finger through the curling smoke...]

That is most fascinating. [His voice was suspiciously close to awe...]

[And Smoker shrugs with a slightly derisive snort.]
