[This is a man who sounds pretty angry. Of course if you know Smoker well, then you might know he often sounds like that. Still, even for Smoker, clearly something's set him off.]

Welcome to New Feathers, if you haven't heard about the Shifts or Drafts yet, I suggest you look into it. If you want to learn basic self defense I could teach you, or Chun-Li could, or any of other teachers who offer it. Normally I'd offer to teach jitte as well, but I'm using flimsy knock-offs right now because some idiot seems to have borrowed it without permission.

[And here he gives a lethal glare to the camera.] I know a pirate took it before, and I've spent all this month hunting you down. I don't know who took it, but step forward now and I'll be far more lenient than if you continue to make me wait!

[His tone suggests that "lenient" means he'll only beat the thief half to death instead of two-thirds.]

When I got taken. I've been searching since New Year's, my best guess is that the Malnosso probably took it with me and then returned it to the blacksmith and some idiot pirate took it before I could get back.

Imagine that the weather is very hot for one day, hot enough for a trip to the beach--or wherever you like to relax. It'd be a perfect afternoon to take it easy with a rum cocktail and watch some hot ladies go for a swim.

Take that feeling, that idea...and then imagine the temperature suddenly dropping below freezing.

I also don't like swimming. And the Grand Line is always like that between islands.

I was a kid back then, I don't remember disliking temperatures.

And yes, the weather is especially chaotic. I staked out Raijin Island certain that Straw Hat would go there first. It rains lightning there. And that's not even the weirdest.

That was almost exactly Straw Hat's reaction. I knew he was going to go for the most dangerous island he could.

Akainu and Aokiji were both admirals. Akainu is the one responsible for Portgas D. Ace's death so even though the former Fleet Admiral, Sengoku, nominated Aokiji for the position, Akainu had a lot of political clout and support.

Aokiji was a friend of mine. He helped me get the position at G5 and he has a good sense of real justice.

Akainu has the magma devil fruit, Aokji has ice. A duel between two logia users alone is a pretty extreme thing. Portgas and I had to be careful not to set the whole town on fire when we fought, but Aokiji and Akainu are both more practiced with their devil fruits. The whole island is pretty much transformed now.

[He hesitates initially, he does say anything that a lot of people don't already know about, but he also promised Ace not to let Sabo find out. And while the kid seems to be still missing, if he doesn't filter it, Sabo is actually smart enough to go back through the journals and find it.]

Not everyone knows how Portgas died, Lupin, so I'm trusting you to use your discretion and keep it to yourself. Got it?

Akainu believes in absolute justice. That killing marines is preferable to letting pirates go free. That killing civilians is acceptable costs of war since hypothetically free pirates would kill more than the few injured.

Ikki thinks letting the world go to absolute chaos would be preferable to Akainu's rule, but I can't say I agree.

[Lupin, hearing this, discreetly bumped the filter to its maximum.]

Your ocean keeps looking messier and messier everytime we talk, Cap'. And, if anyone finds out about Ace? It won't be because of me, that's just not my style.

[But this Akainu...]

Anarchy doesn't work, and that's coming from someone who breaks the rules. Then again...didn't you say that you're going to change the system from the inside?
